Wellbeing
At Coniston Public School, we understand that wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We are proud of our welcoming school environment, where students are cared for, relationships are built on respect and children feel safe, included and connected to their school. Our staff care deeply about their students and are committed to creating a positive environment where every child feels valued and ready to learn.
Guided by the NSW Department of Education's Wellbeing Framework for Schools, we promote positive relationships, respectful behaviour and a strong sense of belonging. We recognise the importance of consistent expectations and work in partnership with families to support students' wellbeing and learning.
Supporting student wellbeing is part of everyday life at Coniston Public School. Our staff care deeply about their students and work together to create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment where children feel they belong.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We support student wellbeing by:
- Knowing every child: building positive relationships so that students feel known, valued and cared for.
- Promoting respectful behaviour: communicating and maintaining clear expectations and encouraging safe, respectful interactions.
- Developing social skills: helping students build positive relationships, manage emotions and navigate social situations.
- Supporting regular attendance: working with students and families to promote regular school attendance and address barriers to attending school.
- Providing individual support: responding to students' wellbeing needs and working with families when additional support is needed.
- Developing health care plans: working with families and relevant health professionals to support students' health needs at school.
- Working in partnership with families: maintaining open communication and collaborating to support student wellbeing.
- Supporting transitions: helping students adjust to starting school, changing classes and moving between stages of learning.
- Connecting with specialist support: accessing school-based and external support when required.
